PATRICIA GUZMÁN

Patricia Guzmán es una pintora mexicana conocida por sus retratos realistas en acuarela, óleo y acrílico. El trabajo de Patricia ha sido galardonado con más de treinta premios en el mundo, incluyendo el primer lugar de la revista Artist's Magazine, primer lugar en San Petersbursgo Art Bridge, primer lugar en la competencia de realismo e impresionismo de acuarela Beaux-Arts, segundo lugar en Splash 22 Watercolor Competition, 2do lugar en China World Glamour Prize, Premio de Bronce en IMWA Youth, Mención Especial en el Premio Fabriano Watercolor, dos veces primer lugar en el Premio de la Sociedad Mexicana de Acuarelistas, dos Tlacuilos por parte del Museo Nacional de la Acuarela, entre otros. https://patriciaguzman.org/awards/

         Ha participado en más de ciento cuarenta exposiciones internacionales de pintura en China, Estados Unidos, Rusia, Italia, Suecia, España, Alemania, Perú, Grecia, Tailandia, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Bolivia, Albania, Corea, Colombia, Bélgica y México.          El trabajo de Patricia está incluido en colecciones permanentes en América, Asia y Europa, así como en numerosas colecciones privadas en todo el mundo. 

          Patricia Guzmán vive y trabaja en Querétaro, México. Enseña talleres, hace presentaciones y participa en eventos de pintura a nivel global. En el 2024 tendrá una exposición individual en Beijing en el Museo Arthur M. Sackler. Recientemente cursó la Licenciatura en Filosofía en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM.

“Antes me frustraba la acuarela, nunca pensé me gustaría tanto, y es la manera en que la enseñas, se abre una posibilidad a poder hacer algo, además que nos acortas el camino, es una alquimia entre que tipo de papel usar, pigmentos, como colocar el papel , todo eso deducirlo llevaría años  y me siento afortunada de haber tenido la oportunidad”.

“Hola!! Querida Patricia!! Mis expectativas fueron superadas ampliamente en todo sentido! Nunca en mi vida había hecho un seminario de pintura y por destinos de la vida, me tocó que fuera con vos!! Yo nunca quería hacer rostros porque me parece que la mayoría de artistas no reflejan el alma del retratado y vos nos enseñaste muchas cosas pero nos enseñaste eso que me parece que es lo más lindo de un retrato!! Nunca imaginé que conesos 10 colores podríamos hacertodo lo que hicimos!! Jamás pensépoder pintar esas autopistas ycarretera como nos enseñaste vos! Me parece maravilloso que nunca tocaste nuestros dibujos y si nos enseñaste a cómo hacerlo!! Nos enseñaste a observar más allá de mirar!! No tengo palabras para describir mi felicidad y mi crecimiento en todo sentido!!”.

 

“En general es el mejor curso al que he asistido. Yo no tengo estudios Universitarios de Arte y me ha parecido muy didáctico, he aprendido muchísimas cosas nuevas de técnica”.

 

“Mi experiencia ha sido inolvidable y he ganado en todos los sentidos. La acuarela me aterraba y sobretodo ser la última siempre por lo lenta que soy pero iba preparada a no hacer nada interesante y aunque proceso lentamente acabo entendiéndolo. He aprendido a perder el miedo al error y creo que con paciencia podré acabar más o menos bien pero sobretodo he aprendido a manejar las herramientas. Tu forma de explicar es inmejorable ciertamente y el verte pintar es lo mejor porque todos aprendemos al mismo tiempo”.

 

Dear Patricia, thank you again for taking your time to organize and run the 3-day workshop last week. It was very well run, instructive, and most of all very well done.
You generously shared your techniques and vision, which made it really an enjoyable workshop to participate in. I learned more (and applied) about your techniques, but I was also able to know more about your subjects and the different cultures and issues in Mexico. Learning about your social and political engagement helped me understand and appreciate your art ... Please keep doing that in all of your workshop and presentation!

I felt that you were extremely well-prepared and organized. I loved that you were able to do technical things on Zoom like draw on our paintings to give advice. In longer workshops with artists of your caliber, I really appreciate seeing a short segment on artists the instructor admires and why (some I follow and some artists new to me) . I like having a bit of philosophy and background which humanizes the instructor and in some cases provides commonality. I’ve never had that much “homework” before but think it prepared and familiarized us with the recommended products. I thought you provided a good balance of us watching you paint and you critiquing us as we plodded along. I would recommend you in a heartbeat to anyone wanting to paint in a realistic style. And I would welcome the opportunity to learn again from you. Your paintings make me very emotional on so many levels and bring tears to my eyes sometimes. You're thinking about the world, human conditions, what is important and valuable, women’s issues and any kind of discrimination are my touchstones.

I really loved the workshop! It was very good planed, the set up was very exiting, with that I mean the home work we got, the videos you made before hand. I felt «safe» to attend since you had so thorough information about the materials we needed, paint and supply in general. A person with no expirience could attend.

I love the work you do to help and teach others and your art is so enormusly beautiful!!! Just keep up the good work and always bring on your happy, «deep thinking» and harmoius personality! I’m so happy for attending your class, tears up in joy, learnd so much, espc brush use!!! To dry it befor bloopping it on the paper, controling pigment use. How to drybrush without dirtying the picture. Love the sandepaper and so glad you talked about alternativ use of watercolor ground!!!
And you learnd me to be patient of only using the colors you mentiond.
Finally but most important, I stept out of the «box of controll» and let go, not afraid of ruin a picture (always a little) but I can fix it.
